Traces - Detail, 2002
Die Installation «Traces », ist eine Erweiterung von netzähnlichen Formen, die ich in der Bildserie «Markings - Traces» durchgearbeitet habe. Es sind Formen aus dem Mikrokosmos sowie netzartige Muster wie man sie in früheren Felsenzeichnungen - z.B. in Valcamonica, Italien - findet.
Es war mir sehr wichtig, die Objekte so subtil wie möglich zu machen und mit ihren Schatten zu spielen. Abhängig vom Licht können die Formen fast ganz verschwinden und sind nur durch die Schatten sichtbar.
Material: Plastikfolie, Pergamentpapier, Shellac, Schnur, handgesponnene Schafswolle, Draht, Wachs, Stecknadeln. Jedes Stück ist zwischen 7 und 20 cm groß. Variable Hängung.
The installation «Traces » is a continuation of the net like forms and lines explored in the abstract series of paintings «Markings - Traces». Here I took shapes found in the microcosmos as well as net/web like patterns found in early rock engravings like those found in Valcamonica, Italy.
I was concerned to make these pieces as subtle as possible and to play with the effects of shadow. Depending on the light, the pieces will almost totally disappear and only their shadows would be clearly visible.
Materials: Plasticfilm, drafting film, shellac, string, wire, handspun wool, wax and pins. Each piece between 7 and 20 cm. Hanging variable.
