gardens

The Giardino Segreto – the secret garden – is a concept from Renaissance garden design which describes a place of solitude and seclusion, a sanctuary. Palace gardens and many other designed gardens are completely constructed environments removed from the dangers and disorder of wild nature and the chaos of the urban world. They represent an idealized 'other' world, an almost magical space, a utopia and escape from contemporary reality. I am fascinated by humanity's attempt to redesign nature, to make art from the natural environment.
